What is orienteering? Orienteering is a type of sport that requires using a map (and compass) to navigate from point to point in diverse terrain. Participants are given a specially prepared orienteering map, which they use to find control points in nature (usually white-orange flags).
Originally a training exercise for military officers, has developed into many variations the, but the most popular still being the traditional foot orienteering. Orienteering is unik sport because you can do it on your preferred level by walking or running. If you wish to compete in orienteering it is basically racing against a clock and finding the fastest paths to control points.
Forest as a place for play? Finland is often called the land forests and thousands of lakes. In orienteering we you our fabulous nature as a playground. Our forest are safe to walk around and by learning orienteering you can make going to nature even more secure. In addition to orienteering there is also ton of other activities you can do such as trail running, berry picking and mushroom hunting.
We will gather to all the activities at Leppävaaran urheilupuisto, in the square next to Angry Birds-park (Veräjäpellonkatu 17,02650 Espoo)

Espoo Suunta (EsSu) is a specialized club for orienteering in Espoo, whose goal is to promote the hobby of orienteering in Espoo and the surrounding areas. EsSu wants to be a club for the whole family, where all members enjoy working together. The main idea of the orienteering school is to guide children on the path of an orienteer and to encourage adults through a hobby for the whole family. Orienteering school is offered without a charge (FREE).
Equipment
Orienteering school practices outside, so dress and shoes according to the weather. You can do well with sneakers / rain boots.
